The
"Square C" toilt seat was designed by me to replace
the stinky vinyl covered foam and particle board toilet seats
on commode chairs.
It
is made from a hard urethane foam, self skinning material that
can be customised to fit with timber working tools. So you can
customise your seat with ease to relieve pressure from problem
areas yet retail support for others.
I've
used mine for 15 years without a pressure problem. The centre
hole is round and smaller so you don't fall down the hole in transfers
or if you have a small butt. The inside edge has an increased
radius to spread the pressure more evenly (I hated the way the
normal vinyl seat eds up just a sharp edge) and the top surface
is flat to make transfers easier. The material doesn't stick to
you like vinyl either so less likely to tear skin.
The
seat can be shaped and cut with wood working tools as easily as
MDF but is waterproof and antibacterial (tests show it won't allow
bacteria or mould to grow due to its chemical makeup. You can
spray paint the final seat any colour you like then just screw
it onto a commode seat frame as the base is flat and wood self
tapping screws hold it in place well.
Because
it is 420mm square, it can be mounted with the opening at the
front for males or left, right, or back for women and with rounded
top edges all atround it is very safe.
The
seat is quite light too but strong so needs minimal support.
You
can't make a commode look good but you can improve its look and
stop it smelling with this seat.
I
have limited stock of about 10 units left in white, grey or black
in standard flat bottom or ultra light with recesses molded out
to decrease weight.
